Highlighting good practices in sustainable development implemented on higher education campuses in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
The ‘sustainable campuses’ working group of the ARES Commission du développement durable has begun compiling a list of best practices in order to draw up an inventory of exemplary initiatives. This set of best practices will be used to identify a list of themes that characterise sustainable/responsible campuses.
Each institution was therefore invited to present a sustainable practice implemented on its campus or campuses.
The initiative presented had to be exemplary and replicable, whether it was a large or small initiative, and highlight the specific feature(s) of the institution in terms of the location of the campus.
The working group focused on small initiatives as well as large ones in order to have a diversity of projects, both in terms of size and the areas concerned. The initiative presented could relate to both infrastructure and cultural change. The latter is considered to be just as important as governance, awareness-raising and stakeholder involvement, particularly that of the student population.
