By establishing academic partnerships, ARES is part of a policy of cooperation and exchange between higher education institutions in the South and higher education institutions in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, Belgium.
Objectives
The specific objective of the Institutional Support (IS) instrument is to strengthen the individual and collective capacities of stakeholders in partner institutions in their core missions of teaching, research, and service to society.
This capacity building can take place at all levels of the institution, provided that multiplier effects for the institution as a whole are clearly targeted and that the activities developed affect a significant number of people or have a significant impact on the institution.
The activities developed within an IS program may thus relate to faculties, departments, units, research or teaching centers, administrative services, well-defined areas, or individuals, provided that the leverage effect on teaching, research, and service to society (which constitute the core business of higher education institutions (HEIs)) is envisaged beyond the structures, entities, and areas directly targeted by the IS instrument.
Furthermore, the aim of this instrument is to support the emergence and consolidation of geographical or thematic hubs that enable inter-institutional approaches on a national, regional, or international scale.
