ARES is the federation of higher education institutions in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
Its missions are to:
- Guarantee the public service mission of higher education in the general interest;
- Support the institutions and ensure their overall coordination in their missions of teaching, research, and service to society;
- Encourage collaboration between institutions, while respecting their autonomy.

Missions
- Its Board of Directors is chaired by Jean-Paul Lambert.
- It has a team of more than 80 people, led by Laurent Despy, Administrator, and specialized in higher education, academic affairs, international relations, international cooperation, statistical studies, and communication.
- It is a public-interest body funded by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and was created by the “Paysage” Decree of November 7, 2013.
